D’Ubervilles Rock Cool Kids - We Are The Hunters
So I went to Barrie last week’ish (about an hour north of Toronto) to see a FoxJaws show. Which I should say, was great but for me, the real show stopper was a nerdy-tippy-toed-knees-bent band called The D’Ubervilles.
I even caught them in Montreal the weekend after, and I must say, after listening to the LP “We Are The Hunters” about 50 times, I am still crooked.
With the high school lazy-crazy feel of Tokyo Police Club, and a mix of synth and dance rhythm that brings “early” Bloc Party to mind - by almost anyone’s standards, this is freaking sweet.
Already “We Are The Hunters”, is making headway to be top10 albums of the year (in my very humble slanted opinion). So if your a southern ontarioan such as myself, you gotta check these kids out.

Hailing from Italy, these guys have been working on some GREAT hip hop inspired electro corkers since 2003, and I love them ALL. If your wondering if you’ve herd them before, listen to “Day N’ Night”, and realize quickly they are one of your favourite groups around.

It released on to the major torrent sites around 1pm EST today, and I saw it hit the public trackers a few hours later.
At first there was a great deal of speculation, on whether it was real or not, and I believe at this point, its safe to say its not. The production quality was very very different from what we’d expect from Death Cab for Cutie as well as in comparison to the single thats out now.
It was taken down on the private tracker sites due to “separate tracks coming from different sources”, which basically means, they didn’t all come from the same place. They were encoded separately. This usually means its a ‘MUTT’ release - usually used to describe a collection of songs someone has downloaded separately and released it under the guise of a proper cd rip.
The same person who leaked the album (http://www.charlatantric.com/2008/deathcabforcutie.html) , did so last year as well, with the Interpol Album - Our Love to Admire.

The Sounds are an upbeat rock ‘n roll band from Sweden with an energetic female vocalist.
They are fronted by Maja (pronounced “Maya”) Ivarsson and backed by Felix Rodriquez, Fredrik Nilsson, Jesper Anderberg and Johan Bengtsson.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? is an electronic band from London, UK. They describe their sound on their myspace as “an arcade machine thrown into a lake, A ZX Spectrum in a prison shower block (That soap on the floor…? it’s a trap)” The band is made up of four members; Morgan, James, Dan and Rob. They have remixed songs for the likes of Muse and Bloc Party. They have been signed to Virgin Records but as of yet have not released a proper single. They have an upcoming tour in the autumn which they are headlining.

is a musician and music producer from Reading UK. He plays drums in the new Virgin Records signing Does It Offend You, Yeah?.
He has produced several tracks for the London-based indie-ska band Sixnationstate (Jeepster Records) and for the Glaswegian indie-pop band Parka (Jeepster Records). He mixed the Parka single If You Wanna, which was produced by American music producer Stephen Hague, (New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Robbie Williams, Blur).
Bloomfield also writes music for film and television. He wrote and produced the soundtrack to three Barclaycard commercials starring Jennifer Aniston, co-wrote and produced music for a Vodafone commercial and wrote and produced a song for the Vinnie Jones movie Hollywood Flies.
Rob mostly records in his own Pro Tools LE-based studio in his house which is affectionately nicknamed “Bleeding Ear Studios”.
